SUMMARY:Culturally Responsive Supervision and Practice
DESCRIPTION:Event Description\n\nAbstract: Practicing behavior analysts pro
vide supervision for young professionals at all levels (e.g.\, RBT®\, BCa
BA®\, BCBA® trainees). Effective supervision is critical to the quality
of ongoing behavioral services\, the professional development of the super
visee\, the continued growth of the supervisor\, and the overall developme
nt of our field and its’ practice. When differences in background and cu
lture exist between the supervisor and supervisee\, the health of the supe
rvisory relationship depends on the extent to which the supervisor is cult
urally responsive in all actions. In addition\, every supervisee must lear
n to be culturally responsive when differences exist between them and the
clients they serve. The supervisor is the primary vehicle through which su
ch cultural sensitivity and responsiveness are taught. This workshop summa
rizes the content of Building and Sustaining Meaningful and Effective Rela
 tionships as a Supervisor and Mentor by LeBlanc\, Sellers\, &amp\; Ala’I
(2020) with detailed strategies and resources for understanding and posit
ively addressing the impact of culture on supervisor relationships. In add
