SUMMARY:Pediatric Anxiety Disorders: What Behavior Analysts Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:Pediatric anxiety disorders represent a pervasive and often deb
 ilitating mental health challenge affecting children and adolescents acros
 s the U.S. The American Academy of Family Physicians notes that anxiety di
 sorders are the most diagnosed psychiatric condition in children and adole
 scents. Anxiety disorders include several different diagnostic categories 
 including specific phobias\, panic disorder\, generalized anxiety disorder
 \, and social anxiety disorder. Although board certified behavior analysts
  (BCBAs) are not trained to diagnose or treat anxiety disorder\, there are
  often opportunities to collaborate with mental health providers and suppo
 rt treatment protocols. Behavior analysts are in a prime position to suppo
 rt evidence-based treatment for anxiety disorders as behavior analytic str
 ategies and data collection are necessary. The presentation will highlight
  collaboration with multidisciplinary teams\, including psychiatrists\, pe
 diatricians\, educators\, and parents\, to ensure a holistic approach to t
 reating pediatric anxiety. Attendees will learn effective communication an
 d consultation skills to facilitate collaboration and provide comprehensiv
