Event Description
Telehealth has been widely used to provide behavior analytic services for families with neurodiverse children and their families. As clinicians, it is our ethical duty to provide the best and effective treatment for the families we work with. However it is also imperative that we also strive to build positive and long-lasting relationships with their caregivers, family members and their extended support system. Clinicians often report that they struggle with the parental nonadherence when providing caregiver consultation and that children often succeed with their direct therapist but struggle to generalize these skills outside of sessions. In this webinar, we will review current research that evaluates how to effectively train caregivers how to carry out and effectively implement behavior analytic procedures. This training will also discuss strategies on how to utilize compassionate care to effectively develop rapport and build long-lasting and meaningful relationships with caregivers. We will review and identify current barriers to effectively consult with caregivers and strategies to overcome them. Participants will also learn about the various cultural factors that can impact caregiver training and how to implement services that are culturally responsive and meet the unique needs of the families we serve.
