AAC Scope of Practice and Competence: Thinking about AAC through an Interprofessional Lens 

As behavior analysts, we are often asked to support our clients with their augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) goals. This presentation will discuss both scope of practice and scope of competence when it comes to AAC. We will review our ethical code and how it can apply to AAC and our clients. We will also cover some best practice strategies and talk about what a referral for a comprehensive AAC assessment could look like. Finally, we will explore common barriers to the use and adoption of AAC.
