Course Description
As America continues to grow in diversity of cultures and persons, it is imperative that Allied Health Professionals are not only sensitive to these variations, but culturally responsive as well. While these cultural differences are often identified and addressed as they relate to client treatments, rarely are they acknowledged as applied to clinical supervision. Becoming a culturally responsive practitioner not only benefits a novice professional, but positively contributes to the rehabilitation profession overall.
This course will provide participants with a definition of cultural responsiveness and cultural competence as it relates to clinical supervision. Participants will be provided with cultural variables of persons from European, African, Latino, Asian and Middle-Eastern descent and how these variables may impact therapeutic interventions. We will discuss variables encountered in clinical supervision as these variables relate to the supervisor-supervisee relationship, and identify strategies that may be beneficial in serving diverse populations.
